Arlington Attractions
Arlington, on the southwest bank of the Potomac, is a suburb of Washington, D.C. One of the smallest counties in the United States, it covers 25.7 square miles, of which about 4.6 square miles are federal property. Some of the major centers of development (the county contains no incorporated communities) are Ballston, Clarendon, Columbia Pike, Crystal City, Rosslyn and Shirlington.
Within Arlington is The Pentagon, one of the world's largest office buildings. The five-sided structure, which was completed in 1943 after only 16 months of construction, covers 29 acres and houses branches of the Department of Defense.

The DEA Museum presents the history of federal drug law enforcement, from 19th-century opium dens to today's organized drug cartels. Displays include drug paraphernalia and items--such as a helicopter and customized motorcycles--confiscated during drug raids. Street parking is limited. Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Fort Myer 204 Lee Ave. Arlington, VA 22211 USA Phone: (703) 696-3944 Fort Myer is near Arlington National Cemetery, off I-395 exit 8A (Washington Blvd.), following signs. The fort is accessed via Hatfield Gate, off Washington Blvd., or Wright Gate, off Fort Myer Dr. A military post since 1863, tenants include the U.S. Army Band Pershing's Own and the 3rd Infantry (The Old Guard), whose duties include conducting ceremonies for visiting dignitaries and military funerals, serving as escort for the president and standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Note: Visitors must show a valid photo ID, and vehicles are subject to search. Arrive early for events.

Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove Arlington, VA 22202 USA Phone: (703) 289-2500 Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove is s. of Memorial Bridge along George Washington Memorial Pkwy. in Lady Bird Johnson Park, a Potomac River island. A granite memorial to President Lyndon B. Johnson on the 17-acre island is surrounded by stones inscribed with quotations from his works.
